Here is what I plan to read in the month of May! (And, boy, is it a busy one or what?)
Wow, this is an amazing month for new releases! I recently got an email from Goodreads reminding me that there were nine books coming out from authors I’ve read (five of which I plan on reading), so I don’t even know where to begin with this one.
I clearly won’t be able to get through all of these, but they are all on my radar, and some I do plan on reading this month.
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
Why I’m Interested: Though I wasn’t a fan of ACOTAR, ACOMAF really turned this series around for me, and I have so, so many theories about how this arc of the series will end. So, although I acknowledge there are problematic aspects of Sarah’s writing, I’m sorry; I just have to read this one, and have already pre-ordered it. This is definitely on my TBR for May! Why I’m Interested: New Lord of the Rings book? On the legendary star-crossed human-elf pairing that came way before Aragorn and Arwen’s? Of course I have to read it! Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be pre-ordering it, but only because I need to make sure it will match my other Tolkien books. (Ahh, every book lover’s dilemma.) Either way, I will read it eventually! Click the title to read its Goodreads summary!
Flame in the Mist by Renée Ahdieh
Why I’m Interested: AUTHOR + FEUDAL JAPAN + COVER + ROMANCE? + UNDERCOVER HEROINE. I mean, this is one of my most anticipated reads of the year. I loved The Wrath and the Dawn, so I can’t wait to see what Ahdieh does with this one! Pre-ordering this one for sure, and it’s definitely on my TBR. Click the title to read its Goodreads summary!
The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich
Why I’m Interested: This book just sounds like a whole lot of fun! The love triangle trope has been so overdone over the years, so I can’t wait to read a book that pokes fun at it, and also puts a unique spin on it–by that I mean, lives are at stake. I haven’t decided yet on whether or not to pre-order, and though I hope to get to it soon, I don’t think there’s room for it on my May TBR. Click the title to read its Goodreads summary!
Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
Why I’m Interested: I know a lot of people were annoyed with Cassandra for “milking” the Shadowhunter world–me somewhat included–but I think Lady Midnight was a game-changer. I actually know a lot of people who couldn’t get into any of Cassandra’s other books but finally did after LM. That being said, I am definitely excited to read this sequel, and hope to pre-order it any day now. It’s 100% a part of my May TBR. Click the title to read its Goodreads summary!
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
Why I’m Interested: I really liked Zappia’s debut Made You Up, so though this on my radar and I do plan on pre-ordering for the amazing incentives, I can’t put it on my TBR. There’s just no way I’ll get to it this month. I am super excited to read it though, and will hopefully have it on my June TBR! Click the title to read its Goodreads summary!
Books Leftover from My April TBR:
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
By the time my copy arrived, I had already rented library books that had to go back, and sadly had to put this one on the backburner since it’s one I can now pick up anytime I want. Hopefully “anytime” will be this month! I’ve already read the first few chapters and am in love, so I just need the time! Click the title to read its Goodreads summary!
Now I Rise by Kiersten White
I was so excited to get this ARC, and, like Strange, I’ve already read the first few chapters because I couldn’t wait, so again providing I have the time, I am so ready to start this And I Darken sequel! Click the title to read its Goodreads summary!
Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer
I couldn’t get my hands on a copy for the entire month of April, but recently made a trade for an ARC on Twitter, so I will be picking this one up hopefully soon after it arrives. Click the title to read its Goodreads summary!
Okay, so just to clarify after explaining my plans for each book, here’s what I plan to read in May:
- Strange the Dreamer
- Now I Rise
- A Court of Wings and Ruin
- Flame in the Mist
- Lord of Shadows
- Spindle Fire
I may go a bit off course this month, however, considering all of the books I’ve obtained in the last couple months that still have yet to be read. 😬
Let me know what you plan to read this month! Maybe I can add your recommendations to my ever-growing TBR. 😉
